ICE CREAM SOCIAL, Saturday July 7th!

Interested in cooling off on a hot summer’s day? Join us at the Black River Academy Museum on Saturday, July 7 from 1-4pm on 14 High Street for an old-fashioned ice cream social.

While you are here, take some time to view the DVD at the main entrance to see what the museum is all about. Walk through the three floors of exhibits featuring the Main Street of Ludlow as it was in the late 1800’s, see rooms filled with Victorian furnishings. Can you pick out the first vacuum cleaner that was invented here in town? The second floor features many exhibits including traditional New England barn building, information about the after effects of Tropical Storm Irene, and Vermont’s largest display of Finnish artifacts. A new display this year shows scaled model buildings of Main Street in the 1930’s and 40’s assembled by our local sixth grade students under the supervision of their teacher, Heidi Baitz. The third floor has a 1900’s school room and military memorabilia from the Civil War, WWI, and WWII.

Whether you are just visiting for the weekend, a summer resident, or a local resident, there is always something new and different to see at the museum. With the price of admission of $2 or $1 for seniors and students, you can enjoy a cool dessert and also wander through this local treasure. Hope to see you on the 7th. Happy summer!
